The July 2015 Challenge
Create an artwork and/or cartoon depicting a real-life event or story. The event in question should either be something that happened to you, or was told to you first-hand by a participant — in other words, not a fictional event. (However, fact-checking is not a requirement of the challenge, so illustrate the story that you remember or were told.)
There are no requirement on size or artistic medium. If you draw a cartoon, aim for roughly the length of a Sunday strip.
Oh my god it’s like you were there.

It’s pretty obvious that I didn’t finish my submission. The intention was to ink in everything, but I ran out of time. For some reason (probably because it was comparably mindless) I decided to work on the background crosshatching first instead of the figures, which was stupid of me.
It was difficult for me to think of a good real-life event or story for this. Most of my favorite anecdotes just involve people talking (which is not interesting to draw), or things that don’t seem all that compelling in retrospect, or things that are, umm, inappropriate. So Andrei won Dancing With the Stars at Sea on the cruise we took to Alaska, and I figured that would be interesting to draw. And I imagine it would have been, had I finished.
